Ypsilanti (Overgang Ypsilanti)

We are a “still mulling it over” group, although we are evolving.  There have been a variety of community workshops being held on a regular basis on various topics related to transition, as well as interaction with other transition members from around the state.

Ypsilanti is a walkable city that places a strong emphasis on valuing historic areas, and park spaces.  We  have community growing and gardening thru Growing  Hope and an active farmer’s market as well as some budding urban farmers.

Small projects such as citizens organizing to put a solar panel on city hall and the local food coop are significant in promoting an awareness of renewable energy as important to the city.
