Bridport sustentável

A Transition Town Bridport foi formada no início de 2009 e tem prosperado desde então. Em 2023, mudámos a nossa marca para Sustainable Bridport, após 14 anos a explicar o que é uma cidade em transição! Bridport é uma cidade mercantil com muitas iniciativas que trabalham em prol de uma cidade sustentável. A SB trabalha em conjunto com elas para sustentar ações relacionadas com alimentação, reabilitação de casas, energias renováveis e competências. Temos três contribuições regulares:

We run two edible gardens at  St Mary’s and Bridport Primary schools, each with  polytunnels and an allotment, involving children in growing vegetables and fruits.  Thes are run with Home In Bridport. We also run cookery courses and social events round the cob pizza oven. We initiated a glut stall to share surplus produce from our allotment and local gardeners., which has continued for four years as Bridport Community Food Stall. We organise trips for school classes to Tamarisk Farm, and organic mixed farm. Greener Homes is an initiative to showcase building and retrofitting homes and adopting low impact lifestyles. This has now spread to the whole of Dorset,  with 40-60 households opening their homes to visitors to share their vision and experience. www.dorsetgreenerhomes.org, mainly now part of Dorset Climate Action Network. Bridport Fashion Revolution continues to be part of SB and campaigns on fast fashion with clothes swaps and repair workshops. With the help of a Transition Together workshop we have been running textile workshop at the youth club for younger people.

Estamos fortemente envolvidos no Bridport Food Matters, no Bridport Local Food Group, nas Dorset EcoChurches, na Dorset Community Energy e na Dorset Climate Action Network.
