We are working in close cooperation with other groups (repair cafe, soup cafe, meer-bomen-nu, zere waste, CALorie energy, …) and with other volunteers.
We work together with local officials and we also host the board of the Dutch national foundation of Transition Towns Netherlands.

Here is a longer list of activities from Transition Castricum
Repair Cafés — volunteers help repair small household items, electronics, even clothes or textile repairs.
Energy advice & home-sustainability support (via local energy cooperative) — e.g. info about insulation, sustainable energy, warm-pumps, energy saving, possible shared electric cars.
Local goods & services exchange (via the local exchange circle) — a non-monetary barter system.
“SAKKIE’z” — making reusable fabric bags as a sustainable alternative to plastic or paper packaging.
Organising community events around healthy, local food — meetings, gatherings, and promotion of local produce and seasonal food.
Promoting sustainable and local food supply — encouraging shops to offer biological / local flowers/plants; working with local businesses on more sustainable offerings.
Biodiversity & greening initiatives — encouraging green gardens, replacing paving with greenery, planting native plants/trees, creating green spaces, biodiversity-friendly gardens or neighbourhood greenery.
Community “HUB” / shared space / broedplaats (incubator / hub) development — exploring a local hub where sustainable, social and creative initiatives and collaborations come together (circular materials, local food, energy, collaborative projects).
Workshops, discussions and events — including talks, film evenings, gatherings to brainstorm ideas (e.g. for a citizen council), community cafés or meetings for shared planning and reflection.
"Fall in love with the Future" workshops with local officials.
In Castricum (in The Netherlands) we work together to create a more sustainable, social and locally rooted way of living. We focus on simple, concrete actions that anyone can join. Everything we do is volunteer-based — no membership or fees.
Our work follows three pillars:Head: raising awareness and sharing knowledge about energy, ecology, economy and climate through workshops, talks and practical advice.Heart: building connection, trust and hope by organising meetups, cafés and activities where people can share ideas about living more resiliently.Hands: putting ideas into action with local projects such as car-sharing, exchange circles, tool and item sharing, Repair Cafés, community energy initiatives, local food projects and activities that support biodiversity.
We believe that small, voluntary contributions from anyone who wants to join can make our community stronger. Together we show that sustainable, community-based initiatives are both possible and worthwhile.
