We got started in March 2026 with a handful of members, and by June we grew to around 15 members. We are exploring transition towns as one approach to building a more regenerative way of life and travel on the island. We love the history of the transition town movement and the ability to tap into a global network.
We have a base at Mana Earthly Paradise in Sayan, west of Ubud, and at Tony Rakas, a restaurant and hub for the arts at Desa Mas, slightly south east of Ubud. We plan to arrange meet ups in various inspiring locations in and around Ubud, engaging restaurant / community space / coworking space stewards to host meet-ups. We are planning to start meet ups mid 2026.

One of the early ideas is to begin mapping the players in the regenerative space, and to bring us together. We have a healthy balance of Balinese, Indonesians, and expats, roughly 1/3 each, and ideally with the majority being Balinese.
Over time, we hope to build a network of mutual support that has a focus on
a) supporting regenerative enterprises and initiatives
b) supporting Balinese to shift to a more regenerative existence
c) supporting the tourism industry to reduce harm and maximize positive impact
d) exploring digital tech to create a directory, map, and potentially online marketplace
A small group of regen enthusiasts in Bali in and around Ubud are exploring how to team up to help foster a more regenerative way of life and travel on the island. Our focus is on gathering social enterprises, regenerative resorts, organic, vegetarian friendly restaurants, eco tours, organic farms, makers of sustainable products, service providers related to the regenerative movement, community center stewards, eco villages, technologists and blockhain enthusiasts, conservationists, artists, musicians, change makers and community leaders together to explore synergies and build a more resilient, intentional network. While the movement may begin in Ubud and the surrounding areas, we are very open to working with others across Bali, most notably in Denpasar, Sanur, Canggu, and ‘the bukit.’
