Transition Wivenhoe is an initiative first set up in early 2009 and located in the small town of Wivenhoe, Essex. Wivenhoe’s Transition movement focuses on fostering sustainable local solutions by encouraging practices like renewable energy use, reducing waste, supporting local food production, and promoting alternative transport options.

The group organizes a variety of active community-led activities, such as gardening projects, eco-friendly upcycling, raising chickens, and local farmers’ markets. It works to raise awareness about environmental issues while empowering residents to take practical steps toward sustainability. We aim to strengthen social bonds by encouraging collaboration, sharing skills, and building a self-reliant local economy that reduces dependence on external systems with support from the Local Town Council and Colchester Borough Council.
