Brink!
Brink! Is a collection of creative thinkers, innovators, and artists building a platform for discussion, education and action centred on the issues of climate breakdown.
We want to support our city’s net-zero and regeneration visions through greening, art and science that demonstrate innovation and that embrace storytelling for community engagement; hearing new voices; telling new stories.
We used a council-owned site, earmarked for Belfast Stories, a high-profile visitor centre celebrating narratives of the city to be built from 2026. ‘A Growing Story’ explored, in this derelict inner-city space, what can happen when we understand our city centre differently, make it grow and play, experiment and educate there. This heritage project was at the heart of Brink!’s plan.
Alongside this we hosted a series of citizen events, workshops, festivals and conferences to ask What Should This City Do? in the face of Climate Change.
Outputs from this project, and other citizen research and events that we have run, have led to working with partners to develop the Belfast sustainable food strategy, The Belfast Way, to help form a city food resilience strategy.
We were selected to be the education and public engagement partners for the Co-Centre for Climate, Biodiversity & Water.
We partnered on all island projects across flax, fibres and peatlands, marrying culture, heritage and citizen engagement to provide opportunities for citizens to take ownership of change together.
