At Sustainable Macleod, we’re all about building a strong, connected, and resilient local community. We love encouraging people to grow and share their own food, connect with their local community and live a sustainable life.

We also speak up on big issues—from the climate emergency and food security to protecting biodiversity—because we believe local action can make a global difference.

Our much-loved Sustainable Macleod Community Garden, established in 2015, is at the heart of what we do. We’ve also set up a Tool Library and a Seed Bank for members, provide free tomato plants each year to our members, sell plants grown right here in the garden, and run regular workshops on everything from gardening and composting to waste reduction and clean energy.

Each month, we put together a comprehensive newsletter packed with tips on gardening, biodiversity, sustainability, and more. Our website is always being updated too, with an extensive blog archive full of resources and inspiration.

We’re big on collaboration and work closely with the local council and local traders to create positive change together. During COVID, our community grew stronger than ever—our membership doubled and reached 240 members by the end of 2022. Today, we continue to connect with a wide audience through Facebook and our website.

Sustainable Macleod is about community, action, and making a difference—and there’s always room for more people to get involved!
