Dorking
Transition Dorking is concerned about climate change and the end of cheap energy. We want to grow more food, generate renewable energy, and have a vibrant local economy. We want a strong, healthy Dorking.
We are part of the much larger Transition Movement, an international grass roots response to the challenges of sustainability, peak oil and climate change. (See our FAQs for further details.) We establish initiatives enabling Dorking to become more independent and resilient in the face of change, and in doing so bring us together as a community.
Our current projects include: Dorking Community Orchard, Dorking Garden Share, Transition Drinks, Knit Up, the Pop-Up restaurants, Now You See Us (pop up shop), EcoHomes events. We also work closely with Food Float, the local food distribution network. Transition Dorking was established in 2008 by a group of local residents. We are entirely volunteer-led and are always looking for people who can work with us. We have a constitution but our structure if flexible and we are open to new ideas.
We’re always looking for people who want to get more involved with planning events and projects. Email us at transitiondorking@gmail.com.
