Over the last two years we have developed a series of early projects, which leverage in creativity in its broadest definition, to connect people, build their skills and confidence, and make change happen. These include: Moffat Seed Library - now with around 180 members, Moffat Seed Library has organised 2 seed swaps (2023 and 2024), a plant swap (2024) and a series of seed pick-ups. We have fruit, vegetable, wildflower and tree seeds available to order from our website, free to people in the DG10 and DG11 area. Moffat Soup - an annual community meal, organised in collaboration with Moffat Town Hall Redevelopment Trust, which raises funds for local community groups who give presentations to the diners – many of whom join the groups as new members and volunteers. Make/Change Mondays – a safe space where change agents (and those who would like to be) explore issues, learn new skills and take action to improve things. It is a chance for people to learn, grow and be brave together. Soundwave – a songwriting space for young and emerging musicians, with an activist viewpoint. The What If? Film Club. Inspired by Rob Hopkins inspirational book, we run a film club that screens activist, transition-based and ecologically focused films. ShareFest - regular share and swap events and the development of a Local Resources Map. The Upper Annandale Timebank - to encourage trading and build community.

Make/Change Collective CIC was incorporated in December 2022 and takes over the remit of Lets Live Local. Our mission is to benefit people in rural areas who are not empowered by our current socio-economic systems and are often excluded from opportunity and privilege.

We work particularly with younger adults aged 16 to 35/40; people working outside the mainstream employment sector (especially the creative, arts and activism sectors); women; marginalised people; refugees and displaced people; those without voice or agency.

Through our projects, events and activities, we work to help people feel better connection and a deep sense of belonging; feel confident in their skills and in expressing their true selves; bring creativity and imagination into their lives; navigate the current socio-economic situation and find a sense of optimism and hope; develop a sense of agency, so they are more in control and able to shape a better future in community.
