Transition Town Bridport è stata fondata all'inizio del 2009 e da allora ha prosperato. Nel 2023 ci siamo ribattezzati Sustainable Bridport dopo 14 anni di spiegazioni su cosa sia una città di transizione! Bridport è una città mercato con molte iniziative che lavorano per una città sostenibile. SB lavora al fianco di queste iniziative per sostenere l'azione in materia di cibo, adeguamento delle abitazioni, energie rinnovabili e competenze. Abbiamo tre contributi regolari:

1. We run two edible gardens at  St Mary’s and Bridport Primary schools, each with  polytunnels and an allotment, involving children in growing vegetables and fruits.  Thes are run with Home In Bridport. We also run cookery courses and social events round the cob pizza oven. We initiated a glut stall to share surplus produce from our allotment and local gardeners., which has continued for four years as Bridport Community Food Stall. We organise trips for school classes to Tamarisk Farm, and organic mixed farm.
2. Greener Homes is an initiative to showcase building and retrofitting homes and adopting low impact lifestyles. This has now spread to the whole of Dorset,  with 40-60 households opening their homes to visitors to share their vision and experience. www.dorsetgreenerhomes.org, mainly now part of Dorset Climate Action Network.
3. Bridport Fashion Revolution continues to be part of SB and campaigns on fast fashion with clothes swaps and repair workshops. With the help of a Transition Together workshop we have been running textile workshop at the youth club for younger people.

We are strongly involved in Bridport Food Matters, Bridport Local Food group,  Dorset EcoChurches, Dorset Community Energy and Dorset Climate Action Network.
