Grow Lewisham

Last Updated: 136 days ago

We are a community group based in Lewisham, London committed to improving access to local land, supporting learning, sharing of resources and building unity between people and planet through the practice of growing food together, learning from each other, and improve the resilience of our spaces and communities.

While our base is a community allotment in Downham, we work to develop and increase regenerative growing spaces and projects across the borough of Lewisham, to ensure all residents have access to these spaces locally, so we can educate, feed and strengthen our communities through a more just and nurturing food system. We do so by using permaculture principles of ‘People Care, Fair Share, Earth Care’ and our approach is one where those involved make the decisions about how they want to work together and what activities they want to prioritise.

Grow Lewisham is run entirely by volunteers, many of whom are on the same journey of learning to grow their own healthy vegetables, herbs and fruit. The project enables us to build on our collaborative ethos with new groups, responding directly to what people want to see happen in their own areas. Our workshop programme is part of building a widening network of mutual support, information and skills exchange across the Borough, with the vision that everyone should have access to healthy environmentally friendly food.

We run regular events such as open days, workshops and skills sharing sessions that give people the opportunity to learn whilst spending time outdoors together.
