Transition Belper

Last Updated: 137 days ago

Transition Belper are a group of local people who, as part of the wider Transition Network movement, are exploring how to re-imagine and rebuild our world at this unprecedented time of global crisis.

Founded in 2009, Transition Belper is made up of people from all ages and backgrounds. What brings us together is a shared desire for action for the benefit of our local community and our planet.

Our activities are aimed at making the market town of Belper a more sustainable place for us all to live, work and play, and at the same time reducing our impact on the planet and our individual and community carbon footprint.

Our members deliver a number of projects and groups in Belper including: Inner Transition, our monthly Green Exchange, the Repair Café, a Travel and Transport group, conservation work in Belper Parks, and we have greened the verges at the Belper railway station. We also publish a monthly newsletter. Check out our website for more details of what we do, what we have done and what we intend to do in the future.

Our main event is “Belper Goes Green”, Transition Belper’s Community, Eco and Arts Festival – a celebration of local living, which aims to share ways of reducing our impact on the planet, whilst connecting the local community in a relaxed, safe and uplifting way. Hopefully we will see you there in 2021!
